Skinny Dipping

Our eldest daughter had just turned two when we moved into a new house with an enormous yard. To celebrate, I decided to purchase an above ground pool with my tax return money. I ordered a 5' deep, 12' x 24' oblong pool. I couldn't wait for its arrival!
As we waited, our neighbors, Steve and Steve, helped us level a patch in our yard and spread a sand base. Upon delivery, Ericka and I put up the pool by ourselves and enjoyed many days floating and playing in the pool with Joanna.
In August, we decided skinny dipping would be a fabulous idea. After dinner, we played with Joanna and made sure she would sleep well. The nighttime routine passed quietly, and the toddler was asleep by nine. Now we only had to wait for darkness to fall.
We popped a bottle of wine while snuggling on the sofa and enjoying some rare time as a couple. The April move exhausted us. Ericka worked hard every day at the hospital, and I would head back to school in a week. Time together occurred rarely.
Eleven o'clock arrived. Giggling like schoolgirls, we headed to the pool wearing nothing but bathrobes. We live in a quiet neighborhood with a secluded backyard. The night appeared still and warm. A lone star sparkled in an otherwise black sky.
Upon reaching the pool, Ericka stripped off her robe and climbed into the pool. Excitement was palpable as I quickly climbed the ladder. When my rather large and extremely white body stood on the top platform, a streak of lightning lit across the sky. I yelped, jumped down the ladder, grabbed my clothes, and headed for the house!
I could hear Ericka sprinting behind me as I raced toward the deck stairs. I careened around the bushes toward the steps. Suddenly, the motion light at the top of the steps highlighted us. I let out a screech! If the Steves inhabited their yard, I am certain they got a view no gay man wants or deserves.
Once in the house, we dissolved onto the sofa in a fit of laughter. Skinny dipping disappeared from my bucket list even though my naked body never touched the water. No neighbor came forth with complaints of public nudity, so we're fairly certain our escapade went unseen by others.
I will always remember that even though motion sensing lights might keep a house safe, but they are no friend to the skinny dipper!
